21 April 2024: Cinema Screening

A cinema screening of ‘For Sama’ will be held at Cinemateket on Sunday, 21 April in Oslo, Norway. The screening will take place at 17:00, followed by a Q&A, with the director and representatives of INEW. Hear from the filmmakers here.

22 April 2024: Protection Forum – Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from Explosive Weapons

Prior to the conference, civil society partners, INEW and the Norwegian Red Cross, will convene the Protection Forum on Monday 22 April, 2024. Read more here and view the programme here.

23 April: Official Review Conference

The conference to review implementation on the Political Declaration on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas will be hosted by the government of Norway and will take place in Oslo, on 23 April, 2024. 

This conference will be the first international follow-up conference to review implementation of the Political Declaration since the high-level international conference in Dublin to adopt the Political Declaration on 18 November, 2022, which saw the Declaration formally adopted by 83 states.

24 April 2024: Thematic workshops 

Additionally, on the morning of Wednesday 24 April, a range of civil society organisations, states, UN agencies and the ICRC will organise two thematic workshops on the topics of 1) military policies and practice and 2) humanitarian access and assistance that will allow for more in-depth discussion on these central issues. Conference participants are encouraged to attend, and can select either workshop regardless of affiliation. View the agenda here.
